Janice P. Smallidge, 75, of Village Gate, Warren, VT, and a former resident of Newburyport, MA, passed away at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, April 17, 2013. Born in Amesbury, MA, on August 1, 1937, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Eleanor (Brown) Pearson. Janice married Robert C. Smallidge, who predeceased her in 2005.

 

Janice was a 1955 graduate of Newburyport (MA) High School and continued her education at Framingham (MA) State University, graduating with her degree in home economics. A teacher for several years in Massachusetts, Janice later was busy and happy as a homemaker and raising her family. Going back to work, Janice owned and operated White Oak Antique Shop for many years in Salisbury, MA, retiring in 2000. She and her husband moved to Warren, VT, in 2003 where she has made her home since.

 

In her leisure time, Janice enjoyed baking, knitting and listening to country music and was a longtime button collector and a member of the Button Club in both Vermont and New Hampshire.

 

Janice is survived by her children, April Morrill and her husband, Jerry, of Amesbury, MA, Robert N. Smallidge and his wife, Erin, of Warren, VT, Andy Smallidge and his wife, Bonnie, of Salisbury, MA; five grandchildren; her sister, Nancy Mitchell, and her husband, Donald, of West Newbury, MA; her closest friend, Bobbie Rodgers, and her husband, Bill, of Warren; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.

 

Janice requested that services and burial be private for family.
