Elizabeth L. Mercier, 95, a longtime resident of Concord, NH, passed
away in the comfort of her home and family in Warren, VT, on Thursday,
September 16, 2010. Born in Portland, ME, on August 19, 1915, she was
the daughter of the late Gustaf and Lucia (Farrar) Lejonhud. On May 20,
1934, she married John Mercier in Concord, NH. Mr. Mercier passed away
on September 22, 1966.
Elizabeth attended schools in Concord and
following her marriage she was busy and happy as a homemaker and
raising her family. Elizabeth was a longtime sales associate for Avon
and later in life provided homecare assistance for the elderly in the
Concord area. Most recently she was employed in the mailroom at the
Rumford Press in Concord from which she retired.
Her memberships
included the Senior Citizens in both Bow, NH, and Waitsfield, VT, and
she was a longtime parishioner at St. Peter Catholic Church in Concord.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, needlework, dancing
and gardening. Since 1966, she has made her home with her daughter and
family.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Jeannette Young
and her husband David of Warren, VT; her son, Richard Mercier and his
wife Connie of Luray, VA; nine grandchildren and several
great-grandchildren. A son, Phillip Mercier, and a sister, Ethel Mae
Patchett, predeceased Elizabeth.
A committal service will be
held from Calvary Cemetery in Concord, NH, on Tuesday, September 21,
