Edward Joseph Clark Jr., 67, died peacefully at his home in Moretown after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born January 22, 1943, in Poughkeepsie, NY, the son of the late Edward Joseph Clark and Marcella (Andre) Clark.
He attended college at St. Francis Xavier in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and held many rewarding occupations. His career began at AT&T and he was very well respected by all his clients. He then pursued self-employment as proprietor of Pickles N' Tea General Store in Ferrisburg, VT. Next was the State of Vermont Weights and Measures Division and Human Services where he made the days of many other workers much more pleasurable. Finally, he was an accomplished plumber and electrician.
As a devoted member of St. Andrew Catholic Church of Waterbury, VT, he served as lector and all-around troubleshooter for the parish's three churches. He derived much joy and peace from his Catholic faith. He enjoyed nature, especially feeding birds, and was an avid reader of science and the philosophy of St. Augustine. He had a perfect ear for classical music, which he inherited from his maternal great-grandfather who was the founding director of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Ed loved the time he spent with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Mary Alice (Mimi) Clark of Moretown; his children from a former marriage, Edward Clark III, MD and his partner Catherine Cleary of Wilson, NC, Jason Clark of VT, and Kara (Clark) Strempek and her husband Jason Strempek of South Burlington, VT; two stepchildren, Israel Maynard (and his two children) and Esther Maynard; three grandchildren, Ellen Cleary, Nico Strempek and Damon Strempek; four sisters, Dolores Dean, Louise Stapleton, Cynthia Rowell, Deborah McLaughlin; and a brother, Christopher Clark.
A special thank you goes out to Dr. John Valentine, Dr. Daniel Fram and their caring staff. In addition the family would like to thank Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice for their care and kindness. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the National Life Cancer Treatment Center, P.O. Box 547, Barre, VT 05641.
