Arla B. Warshaw of Mission Viejo, CA, and Bradenton, FL, passed away
quietly on the morning of April 15, 2010, surrounded by family. She was
predeceased by her husband of 63 years Marvin R. Warshaw, also of
Mission Viejo, CA, and Bradenton, FL.
Mrs. Warshaw was a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and worked as a
laboratory technician during WWII and the Korean War while her husband
was stationed overseas. She was a lover of art and sculpture having
married an artist, and producing several artistic and musically inclined
children was a great joy to her. She enjoyed reading and entertaining
and was always active in her children's school years serving as den
mother for both the Boy and Girl Scouts, heading up way too many prom
committees and served the high school PTA as president for almost a
decade.
Once her children were grown she and her husband Marvin traveled the
globe missing only a few countries. Travel was her greatest pleasure
apart from her family. She is survived by all four of her children: her
daughter Cathy Hadden, son-in-law Roy Hadden and grandson Lucas Hadden
of Waitsfield, VT; her daughter Ivy Ruark and grandsons Casey Ruark,
Dean Ruark and his wife Becky; her son Jeffrey Warshaw and his partner
Lynette Dubois, all of Bradenton, FL; and her son Steven Warshaw and his
partner Robin Feld of Cornish, NH; as well as her brother-in-law George
Feiler and his wife Ann of FL, as well as many nieces, nephews and
cousins around the globe.
Arla's ashes will be scattered in the Gulf Coast off Captiva Island in a
private ceremony for immediate family only with a small amount to be
buried beside her husband's in the Japanese Koi garden he helped to
design on the Hadden property in Waitsfield, VT, where they spent many
happy family vacations and made many friends locally.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to
Hospice of Southern Florida or the National Alzheimer's Research
Foundation in her name.
