Russell P. Barnum, 68, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, passed away on
Friday, April 2, 2010, at The Acuity Specialty Hospital of NJ in
Atlantic City due to complications from a stroke. Russ grew up in Upper
Montclair, NJ, and after graduating Montclair High School he left to
attend college in Middlebury, VT. Russ then remained in Vermont,
including Waitsfield, for the next 48 years. At age 66, Russ and Nancy
moved to Little Egg Harbor where they could be close to the ocean which
he loved.
Russ spent his entire career working with children, mainly as a guidance
counselor at Williamstown High School. He was an avid lover of
bluegrass music and sports, he loved playing cards, cooking, reading and
traveling, and he visited over 38 of our 50 states.
Russ is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Nancy Livingston
Barnum; his children, Becca Barnum Rech and husband Rod, Suzanna Barnum
and husband Andrew Satler, Joshua Barnum, Michael Boyer, and Scott Boyer
and wife Kelly. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Erik Rech,
Alex Boyer and Sarah Boyer; and his sister, Betsy Simpson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at 11:30
a.m. at Maxwell Funeral Home, 160 Mathistown Road, Little Egg Harbor, NJ
