Jim was born in New York City, grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs, and spent his young adulthood in New Jersey. After graduation from Upsala College, Jim was a very successful sales executive in the fragrance industry in New York City.
Jim's move to the Mad River Valley was a dream come true for him. He helped create the structure of the current cooperative at Mad River Glen. Jim was a competitive amateur golfer.
He is survived by his beloved partner, Sharon Crawford, his sister, Sally McAfee, and three much loved dogs.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Central Vermont Humane Society.
