Jerre M. Cain, 73, of Fayston, passed away in the comfort of his home and wife on Saturday, January 13, 2007. Born on January 23, 1933, he was the son of Irene D. (Knowles) Cain and the late George E. Cain. On July 28, 1956, he married the former Barbara Bastedo in Glen Rock, NJ.
Jerre was a 1952 graduate of Westwood (NJ) High School and continued his education at the New York Trade School in New York City. He served his country during the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Army. Jerre was employed by Superior Technical Ceramics in Englewood, NJ, as a tool and die maker and in 1975, took a position in their St Albans, VT, plant where he retired as an engineering coordinator in 1998. Jerre and his wife have made their home in the Mad River Valley since 1975.
An avid bicyclist and skier, Jerre was a former member of the Mad River Glen ski patrol in Fayston. He also enjoyed working around his home and woodworking.
Jerre is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Cain of Fayston; his mother, Irene D. Cain of Lakewood, CO; two sons, Scott A. Cain of Homestead, PA, and Glenn E. Cain of Alma, CO; two granddaughters, Emily and Abigail Cain; a brother, Edward K. Cain of Littleton, CO; as well as two nieces and two nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 20, at 4:45 p.m. upstairs in the Basebox at Mad River Glen.
