This is particularly questionable in light of Vermont's long-standing
and well-supported law banning advertising billboards. I believe that a
majority of Vermonters support preserving the natural beauty of our
landscape. All you have to do is drive into Vermont from New York to
appreciate the amazing difference.
Now, one day before The Valley Reporter's deadline, I was appalled to see the beginning installation of a huge
eyesore at American Flatbread. I was under the mistaken impression that
there was an ongoing discussion between American Flatbread and
Waitsfield to mitigate the visual impact of 17 odd (what number does it
matter) trackers in the scenic corridor on prime open land.
It
appears that AF does not care what its neighbors think. It has a Public
Service Board permit which gives it a right to "uglify" the town.
George, don't try to tell me of the beauty of these "consarned"
contraptions. No lipstick on a pig will help.
Don't tell me
that a place that cooks with wood has to mitigate electric expense at
the cost of the appearance of our neighborhood. And don't tell me that
you are a good neighbor for making us the appearance fall guys and not
working with the town.
Stop this poorly conceived eyesore now
until an agreement is reached that takes into account the feelings of
your neighbors. I, for one, will be voting with my dollars and not
buying any New Hampshire-made pizza from American Flatbread. Besides a
negative environmental impact you have generated a public relations
storm.
Please be a good neighbor.
