The issues are many, complex and will require a governor who understands
the scope of the issues, has an established record for putting
legislation and programs in place, is successful in building diverse
coalitions that together create real solutions, is self assured and
humble enough to not always be the center of attention, is results
driven and is a committed champion for Vermont working tirelessly for
all its citizens. Doug Racine is this person.
No other
candidate has the legislative or business portfolio Doug has compiled.
He is a family businessman and knows the trials and tribulations of
running a business in Vermont. His legislative accomplishments are
extensive. They include funding early childhood programs, such as the
Parent Child Centers, long before it became politically vogue to support
services for our youngest children. Recent accomplishments include
co-chairing the Child Poverty Council resulting in an action plan for
"Improving the Odds for Kids," co-sponsoring and passage of marriage
equality legislation and, through his chairmanship of the Senate Health
and Welfare Committee, the passage of legislation that leads to
universal health care.
Doug is not a grandstander. He is a
doggedly determined achiever who works respectfully and gets results. He
is the candidate with vision and the leader Vermont needs as governor.
