To The Editor:
Incumbent state rep Dara Torre is out of touch with what our residents need. School funding is a mess; taxes are up 13 to 15%; and will increase again in 2025. Our students are being penalized. Dara is too hung up on the clean heat legislation that she ignores the real pain residents are feeling. Dara’s promoting of the clean heat legislation is irresponsible. The clean heat standard will increase a Vermonters’ cost of heating their homes by $0.70 to $7 per gallon on propane\fuel oil bills. Candice has the right idea -- initially limit this standard to new construction. Heat pumps will not be cost-effective unless a home is first properly weatherized.
Dara Torre is not being fair to her constituents. Please, please, please vote for Candice and John. Removing Dara is one very good first step to reform our legislative body.
