To The Editor”

We are certain Vermont can have home ownership for $600/month.  People can afford this on minimum wage!

Having been in real estate for over 30 years, I witnessed firsthand the difficulty and struggles people have finding an affordable place to own and/or rent. There is an underground network of leads and contacts on new vacancies, the rush to get an affordable place to live is fierce. We’ve attempted to build small homes in The Valley. Sadly, this occurrence is also running across our state.

For years our valley has studied, talked, commissioned expensive reports and commiserated about the problem. Other than Habitat for Humanity building two homes, we haven’t seen much and the issue remains unabated. Myself and others have gone before the towns, select boards, planning commissions, before state representatives and found little or no interest in solving our current issue.

We have the technology, it won’t pollute our environment, we don’t need taxpayer money, we have everything in place to solve this problem but for one thing. We have a regulatory process that keeps it from happening, that is the only reason.
