To The Editor:
Someone contacted me recently and I was told about the Working Lands Enterprise Fund (WLEF). It was created in 2012 to stimulate a concerted economic development effort on behalf of Vermont agriculture and forest product sectors by systematically advancing entrepreneurs, business development and job creation.
As anyone reading this can imagine, those three goals are critical in these difficult times. When I first heard about this, I asked a well-respected legislator for an opinion. The answer: The working lands grant program is fantastic and a huge support for The Valley's working lands. Good!
Now that next year's budget is being created, the WLEF is looking for continued support and adequate funding. I can't imagine a better cause for our farms and forests and I hope that many reading this will ask our governor and legislators for their strong support.
