It’s a big weekend for fall celebrations at both Sugarbush and Mad River Glen. Sugarbush is hosting its annual Community Weekend on October 6 and 7 while Mad River Glen hosts its annual Green and Gold weekend.
Community weekend at Sugarbush kicks of the resort’s 60th anniversary and features a special storytelling event.
After Sugarbush president Win Smith’s annual resort update at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning, members of the community have been invited to recall some of their interesting stories from the early days of Sugarbush. Storytellers will include John Egan, members of the Murphy family, Sparky Potter and Chan Weller. Members of the audience will also be invited to share stories as well.
From there, a full lineup of family-friendly events fills the day. Adventure camp, pumpkin carving, balloon animals and bubbles, and Pete & Chris’ Amusement Show are all favorites for kids. Lift rides, mountain activities, a Sugarbush vehicle display, guided dog-friendly foliage hike and snag golf round out the rest of the activities. In addition, Sugarbush partners will be tabling in the Lincoln Peak Courtyard along with food and drink available at Castlerock Pub, Rumble’s Kitchen, and smoothies from Green Mountain Nutrition. The Warren Fire Department will also be hosting a community pancake breakfast prior to Smith’s presentation at 8 a.m. Gadd Brook will be hosting an open house from 2 to 5 p.m.
On Sunday, October 9, Sugarbush celebrates Oktoberfest in the Lincoln Peak Courtyard. This event brings Bavarian-inspired food, drinks and games as well as music by the Mad Bavarian Brass Band. Sugarbush encourages guests to compete in the stein hoisting competition, keg toss contest, pumpkin bowling, football toss, and dirndl/lederhosen contest. Guests will remember their Oktoberfest adventures with Friendly Lens, who will provide a photo booth for the event.
