Valley Arts’ annual Photo Show opens on Friday, September 14, at the Red Barn Galleries at Lareau Farm in Waitsfield. The show achieved wide recognition under the leadership of the Green Mountain Cultural Center. And, with the transition of the event to Valley Arts, the venue for the exhibit has also changed, and the work of more than 70 photographers fills the galleries in the show’s new home at Lareau Farm.

The show includes work created by both amateur and professional photographers who come from Vermont as well as New York, Boston and Montreal, and other places all over the Northeast. The photographs in the exhibit represent work in all forms and styles, from black-and-white to color, film and digital manipulation. Many different presentations comprise the exhibit — there are photographs framed traditionally under glass and photographs printed on stretched canvas, for instance, and a range of sizes from small works to very large pieces.

The Photo Show opens with a reception at the Red Barn Galleries at Lareau Farm from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 14. The exhibit is a featured event of the Barns and Bridges Festival that will take place from September 14 through 16 in various locations throughout The Valley. The reception is free and all are welcome.

The Photo Show runs until Sunday, October 7. Hours for the exhibit are Thursdays and Fridays from 4 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays, noon to 9 p.m.

A schedule of events for the Barns and Bridges Festival, including a map for Sunday’s tour of the barns and bridges, is available at the Valley Arts office in the Village Square, Three Mountain Café, the Mad River Valley visitor center on Bridge Street in Waitsfield, the Red Barn Galleries at Lareau Farm and other locations in Waitsfield and Warren.
