Harwood girls’ volleyball coach Peter Arsenault reported that the team beat Missisquoi 3-1 (25-11, 23-25, 25-19, 25-23) on October 5, 2023.

Individual stats:

Sophomore outside hitter No. 8 Aspen Linskey finished with 11 service points and 10 aces while also keeping the team alive with 14 hitting attempts and 12 passes to target on serve receive. Junior libero No.1 Emily Severance had 12 service aces and 14 service points.

Senior middle blocker, No.13, Addison Thomas had two kills and two blocks. Sophomore setter No.6 Savannah Fulton provided eight assists, two kills and two blocks. 

Key moments/plays from the match included a time in the first set when Aspen Linsky provided a five-point run in serving that put Harwood in a comfortable lead to keep the energy in the Highlander's favor to finish 25-11. Another highpoint was when Emily Severance gave a six-point service run for Harwood in the second set while a handful of passing and hitting errors allowed the Missisquoi to push ahead at the end for the 25-23 set. The Highlanders were down 22-16 and then Savannah Fulton went on a seven-point run to put Harwood back in the lead at 23-22 and Aspen Linskey was able to finish for Harwood to get the 25-23 win in the fourth set to earn their second win of the season.

 

Harwood girls lose to Enosburg

The Harwood girls’ volleyball team volleyball lost to Enosburg on October 10, 0-3 (15-25, 15-25, 11-25)

Coach Peter Arsenault reports that during the game sophomore setter No. 6 Savannah Fulton provided a couple assists, two kills and an ace while junior libero No. 1 Emily Severance served an ace and a couple of service points while keeping the team alive with a handful of defensive digs. Arsenault noted that senior setter No. 3 Sadie McKibben served an ace, three service points and two kills. 

Key moments/plays from match included Harwood and Enosburg fighting point for point, taking turns with the lead until Enosburg was able to take advantage of one service receive rotation that allowed them to close out the deal in the end. 

Harwood (2-9) will host Randolph Union on Thursday, October 12, varsity only at 4:30 p.m.
