Madison D'Amico, a Harwood student, prepares a bowl for the annual Empty Bowl dinner.

Harwood High School students are enthusiastically preparing an Empty Bowl Dinner to raise awareness about world hunger. The students are part of Harwood’s Rwanda Travel Study Program and see this as an opportunity to discuss world hunger and share Rwandan culture with friends, family and community members. The Empty Bowl Dinner takes place on Thursday, December 10, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

Each attendee will receive a sample of Rwandan cuisine and take home a handmade bowl. The evening’s events include a discussion of hunger around the world, music and a silent auction of crafts from Rwanda, Africa and local businesses.

All proceeds benefit the Harwood Rwanda Travel Study Program. Tickets to take home a handmade bowl are by donation.
