Rodman Carter III, 84, died on March 9, 2014, in Williston, Florida, of natural causes.
Ford was born on February 9, 1930, in Englewood, New Jersey, to Ford Rodman Carter Jr. and Edith Fuller Judson. He spent his early childhood fishing on Wing Lake in southern Michigan. His adolescent years were series of travels with his father taking him to places including Ocala, Florida, where he learned to fly at age 11 and Stuart, Florida, where he completed high school. He attended Central Michigan University (CMU), during which time he was drafted into the Army.
While attending CMU, Ford met the love of his life, Susan Alles, who became his wife in 1956. They were happily married for 57 years. The two moved to Delray Beach, Florida, and started a family. Ford was a wonderful father and husband as well as an entrepreneur, flying his plane, helping to develop the Turks and Caicos Islands. He was an honest and charismatic business man who made friends wherever he went.
Ford is survived by his wife, Susie Carter of Williston, Florida; his daughter, Blaire Scaglione of Warren, VT; his sons, Hunter Thompson Carter and Jonathon Carter, and daughters, Alleson Christie Hamelin and Jane Marie Rice; as well as several spouses and nieces and nephews and eight grandchildren: Amanda, Jarrett, Anthony, Dominic, Savannah, Ford, Cole and Jenna.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
