George Hector Trombly, 83, of Williston, VT, died on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in St. Albans, VT, on June 26, 1928, the son of the late Hector and Emma (Bernier) Trombly. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Army from 1946-1949. On February 24, 1950, he was married to Barbara Louise Lovett. They raised their family on Vest Haven Drive in Burlington, VT. George worked for many years as a salesman in the food distribution industry. He worked at Champlain Valley Fruit Company, Hersheburg Distributors and Independent Food Company of Burlington.

George loved to bring his family camping and loved to travel in his motor home. He also enjoyed many holiday outings at their family camp.

George is survived by his wife, Barbara Trombly of Williston; their six children, Brenda Trombly Simons and husband Mark of Woodway, WA, Gail Companion Halvorson and husband Leonard of Colchester, Denise Trombly Jaques and husband Craig of Colchester, Randal Trombly and wife Beth of Lincoln, VT, Jeffery Trombly of Milton and Dale Trombly and wife Cindy of So. Burlington; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Edna Carmen and her husband Grant, his brother Leo Trombly and his wife Madlyn, and by a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Trombly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 30, 2012, at 10 a.m. in St. Mark’s Church, Burlington. Interment will be later this spring in Village Cemetery, Warren, VT.
