Taber Jason Merchant, 11, of Duxbury, passed away in the comfort of his family at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington on Friday, April 29, 2011. Born in Berlin on July 26, 1999, he was the son of Brian P. and Nicole (Dalley) Merchant.
Taber was currently a sixth-grade student at Crossett Brook Middle School in Duxbury where he enjoyed participating in theater and music. His interest in theater extended outside of school as well where he was a member of the One Studio Theater in Waterbury. An avid reader, Taber loved learning about new things and was recently researching his family’s genealogy. He also loved to cook and participated in this year’s Junior Iron Chef Competition.
Taber is survived by his parents, Brian and Nicole Merchant of Duxbury; his brother, Parker Merchant of Duxbury; his paternal grandparents, Dennis and Pamela Merchant of The Villages, FL; his maternal grandparents, Michael and Pamela Dalley of Waterbury Center; his paternal great-grandmother, Dorothy Merchant of Duxbury; his maternal great-grandparents, G. Wendell and Evelyn Parker of Waterbury Center; as well as a large and close extended family.
Memorial services will be held from the Crossett Brook Middle School in Duxbury on Friday, May 6, 2011, at 4 p.m. There will be no calling hours. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Duxbury, will be private.
