Joseph Stanley Hyde, 92, of Mayo Manor, died Sunday, December 26, 2010, at the Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin.
Born March 25, 1918, in Hensley Illinois, he was the son of Charles and
Lottie (McKee) Hyde. He graduated from high school in Yonkers, New York.
On September 9, 1950, he married Mary Jane Eberbach. Most of their
married life had been spent in Closter, NJ, and Hendersonville, NC. She
died in 1994. Since 2007 he had resided at Mayo Manor.
For many years he trained business executives in credit research and
management practices at the major business schools in the United States
and at Oxford University in London, England.
He was a passionate golfer and enjoyed gardening and traveling with his wife and family.
A veteran of U.S. Army service during World War II, he served from March
of 1941 to October 1945. He had been stationed in the Pacific Theatre
of Operations and was discharged as a staff sergeant in the Engineer
Corps.
Survivors include three sons, Bruce Hyde of Granville, VT, Jody Hyde of
Centerville, MD, and Peter Hyde of Thomasville, GA; six grandchildren;
as well as his sister, Rosemond Adams, in Iowa; and nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and his wife he was predeceased by his son, Robert Hyde, and seven brothers and sisters.
A celebration of his life will be held in the spring of 2011, directed
by his family. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be
