Nancy Lee Demas, 71, formerly of Waitsfield, passed away peacefully
in her sleep and in the comfort of her Northfield home on Monday,
February 15, 2010. Born in Montpelier on March 7, 1938, she was the
daughter of the late Clesson E. and Florence (Baird) Eurich. On
September 1, 1956, Nancy married Donald J. Demas in Waitsfield.
Nancy graduated from Waitsfield High School. In addition to being a
homemaker and raising her family, Nancy worked several years at the
National Life Insurance Co. in Montpelier before embarking on a career
as a secretary in the Emergency Department at the Central Vermont
Medical Center in Berlin that spanned 28 years, retiring in 2005.
In her leisure time she enjoyed spending time on the coast of Maine,
reading, puzzles and the company of her large and loving family, in
particular her grandchildren. Her memberships included the Morning Star
Chapter #23 OES of Waitsfield and more recently the Queen Esther
Chapter #7 OES of Waterbury and Waitsfield.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 53 years, Donald Demas of
Northfield; their children, Terri Stridsberg and her husband David of
Berlin and Anthony Demas and his wife Dyanne of Northfield; three
grandchildren, Tyler Demas, Brent Hallock and Brittney Hallock; three
great-grandchildren, Tiahna Hallock, Tayden Lawliss and Abigail Demas;
three sisters, Joanne Griffith and her partner Andrew Baird Jr. of
Waitsfield, Carol Downer of Pittsfield, MA, and Susan McDonald and her
husband Dennis of Arrow Head, OK; two brothers, Kevin Eurich and his
wife Sheila of Warren and Steven Eurich and his wife Elaine of
Waitsfield; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. A son, Alan
Demas, predeceased Nancy.
A celebration of Nancy's life will take place from the Waitsfield
United Church of Christ on Friday, February 19, at 11 a.m. with a
reception to follow in the church dining room. The family requests that
flowers be omitted; rather memorial gifts would be appreciated to the
