Lucia Gentili, 61, of Anne Burns Road, Warren, passed away in the
comfort of her home and family on Sunday, January 17, 2010. Born in
Sarnano, Macerata, Italy, on August 4, 1948, she was the daughter of
the late Francesco and Angela A. (De Biasio) Gentili.
Emigrating from Italy with her family at the age of 3 to Windsor,
Ontario, Lucia attended schools there and then continued her education
at Concordia University in Montreal. While residing in the Mad River
Valley, Lucia worked in hospitality for a number of years and then
pursued a vocation in education. Most recently, Lucia was a reading
instructor at Harwood Union High School in Duxbury specializing in
Orton-Gillingham, a phonetic-based remedial reading program. She was
also a member of the International Dyslexia Association.
In her leisure time she enjoyed all things Italian, loved to cook,
quilt, music, a good mystery novel and travel. She especially enjoyed
her visits to cities full of culture such as New York and Montreal.
This past fall, she returned to her native home in Italy with her
family; a trip she truly cherished. A loving mother, wife and sister,
Lucia will be fondly remembered for her devotion and love for her three
children.
Lucia is survived by her husband, Michael Woods of Warren; her
children, Mika Gentili-Lloyd of Portland, OR, Aliza Gentili-Lloyd of
Brooklyn, NY, and Carson Evan Gazley and his wife Dannia of Fayston;
her sister, Anna Maria Brieda of Windsor, Ontario; a brother, Enrico
"Henry" Gentili of Deep River, Ontario; as well as nieces, nephews and
extended family.
At Lucia's request, private family services will be held. For those who
wish, the family requests memorial gifts be made to The International
Dyslexia Association (www.interdys.org) or The Kidney Cancer
Association (www.kidneycancer.org). To send online condolences please
