Barb was a 1952 graduate of Montpelier High School. With a consummate work ethic, Barb at the age of 14 began working for the former Demeritt Canning Co. in Waterbury snipping beans, and then following graduation from high school, worked for the National Life Insurance Co. in Montpelier. Busy as a homemaker and raising her young family, she worked at the Waterbury Center School hot lunch program and provided daycare from her home. With her children grown, she returned to National Life for several years, later worked as a receptionist for Radio Vermont - WDEV in Waterbury and then was employed by the State of Vermont, first in Property Valuation and later in the Chancellors Office for Vermont State Colleges from which she retired.
Barb was a member of the Waterbury Grange #237 in Waterbury Center, the Waterbury and Waterbury Center PTA and was a Cub Scout Den Mother. In her leisure time she enjoyed spending time at their camp on Lake Elmore, traveling, cooking, canning and pickling. The foundation of Barb's life was her family, taking immense pleasure in spending time surrounded by her loving children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and siblings.
Barb is survived by her children, Candace Kellett and her husband Peter of Waterbury Center, Darla Hartt of Waterbury Center, Darcy Woodruff and her husband John of Waterbury Center, Shawna Conoscenti and her husband Dale of Arlington, MA, and Kevin Ripley of Waterbury Center; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother, Cedric Reagan, and his wife Dolly of Moretown; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. Barb was predeceased by a brother, Douglas Reagan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waterbury on Friday, May 2, at 11 a.m. with inurnment to follow in the Waterbury Center Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial at the Grange in Waterbury Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts would be appreciated to the Waterbury Ambulance Service, P.O.
