Thomas Arbuckle Clark Jr., formerly of Warren, VT, was born May 12, 1928, in Yonkers, NY, and passed away on March 14, 2008, at his home in Cocoa, FL.
Tom's 27-year career as an insurance broker was spent with Johnson & Higgins of New York. In 1978, he was appointed president of Johnson & Higgins of Connecticut, and manager of the firm's J&H office in Hartford. In 1983, he transferred to Bermuda where he was involved in the firm's captive insurance business, and retired from J&H in 1988.
Mr. Clark graduated from The Hotchkiss School, Lakeville, CT, in 1946 and attended Brown University. He was a former director and treasurer of the National Association of Insurance Brokers and a former president of the Insurance Brokers Association of the state of New York. In 1981, he was appointed as chairman of the Hartford Symphony's 1981 Annual Fund campaign.
Mr. Clark is survived by his wife and best friend, June, son Thomas A. Clark III, Charlotte, VT, daughters Elizabeth Clark, New York, and Allison McGraw, Vero Beach, FL, stepdaughter Lynne (Scott) Phelps, Kansas City, MO, Linda Clark, Vero Beach, FL, and granddaughters Bailey McGraw and Margot Clark, Vero Beach, FL. He was predeceased by his parents.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at Divine Mercy Catholic Church on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Westhampton, NY.
