Leigh was a 1941 graduate of Plymouth (NH) High School. After high school he attended Concord Technical School in Concord, NH. He served his country during World War II as a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a longtime employee of the NYNEX Telephone Co. He retired in 1982.
Leigh's memberships included the United Methodist Church, the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Masons, Scottish Rite and Mount Sinai Temple Shrine, the Elks, Bolton Valley Ski Patrol and the Colchester Rescue. He enjoyed golfing, handy work and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Emma of Shelburne; one daughter Lorelle Marineau and her husband Brian of Lake Elmore; one son Loren Gove and his wife Bonnie of Colchester; four grandchildren, Seth Marineau, Leigh Marineau, Tony Galle and Jason Galle; two great-grandchildren, Camille Marineau and Samantha Galle; two brothers Keith Gove and Carl Gove; one sister June Winsor. He is predeceased by two brothers Leo Gove and Donald Gove.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, September 25, from the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home in Waterbury at 11 a.m., with visitation from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service. Burial followed in the Waitsfield Village Cemetery. Memorial gifts would be appreciated to the Gove/Eldredge Memorial Fund, Camp Randolph, Highgate Springs, VT 05460 or the charity of one's choice.
