Lawrence E. "Larry" Knaul, 67, of Beaver, PA, formerly of Waitsfield, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at Beaver Elder Care, Aliquippa, after an extended illness.

Mr. Knaul was born in Auburn, NY, on July 26, 1939, the son of the late Howard W. and Theresa (Discenza) Knaul. He was a 1957 graduate of East High School, Auburn, NY, and was a 1961 graduate of Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY, with a degree in electrical engineering. He was a member of the Honorary Engineering Societies Beta Kappa Nu and Tau Beta Pi. Larry worked briefly for MIT's Instrumental Laboratory and AC Sparkplug. He joined Honeywell, Inc. in 1966 as a field service engineer in their aviation department traveling extensively and retiring in 1992. He was a private pilot for CFI Instruments and gliders, A & P mechanic, AOPA member and had owned a private air charter business in Vermont.

Larry was an avid skier and tennis player and his wry sense of humor will be missed by his six cousins and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard W. Jr. and Peter D. Knaul.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Judith L. "Judy" McCleery Knaul and their beloved dog "Sophie"; one brother, Richard J. and Barbara Knaul of Auburn, NY; two nephews, David A. Knaul and his wife Regen O'Malley, Glastonbury, CT, and John H. and Katherine Knaul, Williamsburg, VA; one niece, Kate Knaul and fiancé Tim Cope, Greencastle, IN; sister-in-law and family, Sarah and Jim Foster, Jason, Buffy and daughter Tess of Beaver; Jeb and Paige Foster of Stockbridge, GA; sister-in-law and family, Connie Rockwell and Don Winters of Loveland, CO; Tim Hochberg and Dr. Elizabeth Carey and their son, Tanner of Scottsdale, AZ, and Anna and Joe Fontana and son, J.J., of Fort Collins, CO.

A memorial service will be held in Quay Chapel of the J.T. Anderson Funeral Home, 205 College Avenue, Beaver, PA, www.jtanderson.com, on Sunday, July 8, 2007, at 1 p.m. conducted by David D. Byers.
Friends may make memorial contributions to the Shade Tree Commission of Beaver, c/o George Orr, 165 S. Lincoln Avenue, Beaver, PA 15009. A local memorial service will be held later in the summer for local friends and acquaintances.
