Raymond E. Loveland, 83, of Ludlow, died Tuesday afternoon January 30, 2007, in Mercy Medical Center, Springfield, VT, surrounded by his family. Raymond was born in Boston, MA, on April 20, 1923, and was a son of the late Burton and Bessie (Warren) Loveland. He was a graduate of Waitsfield High School in Waitsfield and received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Bryant College. He resided in Springfield for 10 years, Wilbraham for 36 years and in Ludlow for the past 4 years.
He was a member of the Massachusetts Association of Public Accountants, Who's Who in America, and the Wilbraham United Church where he served the church in several lay ministries over the years.
Raymond worked for 20 years at the Federal Milk Market as an auditor. He then worked for Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company as a commercial real estate broker for 10 years. He later formed his own company, Loveland Real Estate, which he owned and operated for 26 years, and retired in 2002. He served his country in Central Europe during World War II with the United States Army and attained the rank of Technician Fifth Grade. He received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, along with the WWII Victory Medal.
Besides his parents, Raymond was predeceased by his brother, Harry Loveland. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janet E. (Wallis) Loveland; a son, Paul T. Loveland and his wife Connie of Westerly, RI; a daughter, Elizabeth L. Van Schooneveld and her husband Gary of Eden Prairie, MN; a granddaughter, Jillian; four grandsons, Jason, Patrick, Christopher and David; along with several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Raymond was held on February 6, 2007, in Wilbraham United Church. A private burial will take place in Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield.
