Patricia K. Foster, 62, of The Commons, Moretown, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 7, 2007. Born in Buffalo, NY, on July 8, 1944, she was the daughter of the late J. Robert and Elizabeth (Johnson) Kelly. Patricia was previously married to Charles Robert Foster.
Patricia was a 1962 graduate of Hamburg (NY) High School and continued her education at Penn State University. Following her marriage and as a young mother, she was busy as a homemaker and raising her family. Moving to the Mad River Valley in 1985, Patricia began work for Jamieson Insurance in Waitsfield where she was a bookkeeper and receptionist before becoming a sales agent. She later was employed at Valley Rent-All as a bookkeeper and, following the sale of that business, went to work in the accounting department at Vermont Mutual Insurance in Montpelier. She was also a dedicated employee of the Eagle's Resort in Waitsfield for over 10 years.
Patricia's memberships included the Alpha Phi Sorority, the Waitsfield United Church of Christ, a local Valley Book Club and Prayer Circle. In her leisure time, she enjoyed knitting, cooking, reading and was an active bridge player.
From a young age, Patricia was always very caring and considerate of other people. She will be fondly remembered as a nurturing mother and devoted grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Kelly A. Foster of NYC, Courtney Foster O'Rourke and her husband, Patrick, of Bend, OR, Joel R. Foster and his wife, Jennifer, of Jeffersonville, and Timothy P. Foster from NYC; three grandchildren, Caitlin, Lillian and William Foster; two sisters, Judy Robinson of Middletown Springs and Marolyn Kellner of Greenville, SC; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.
A service of remembrance and celebration was held from the Waitsfield United Church of Christ on Tuesday, March 13, at 11 a.m. with a reception following in the church dining room.
