Janie Wilder, 62, of Duxbury, passed away in the comfort of her home and family on Sunday, January 28, 2007, following a valiant battle with ovarian cancer. Born in West Sunbury, PA, on August 7, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Bertha (Gerber) McAnallen. On February 12, 1966, she married Malcolm "Mac" Wilder in Waitsfield.
Janie was a 1962 graduate of Moniteau High School in West Sunbury and that same year, moved to the Mad River Valley where she was employed as a waitress at Norm's Restaurant. She later worked several years for WE Aubuchon Hardware in Waterbury before being employed by National Life Insurance Co. in Montpelier as mailroom supervisor for the Sentinel Funds Division, a position she held until the time of her death.
In her leisure time, Janie enjoyed tending her flower gardens, watching the birds, reading, and she was well known as an exceptional cook. She loved to play bingo and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Janie is survived by her husband of 40 years, Mac Wilder of Duxbury; their daughter, Julie Wilder and her husband, Daniel Martin, of Middlesex; two sisters, Rachel McAnallen of Denver, CO, and Ruth Ann Cave of New London, NH; a brother, Bruce McAnallen of Concord, NH; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.
Private family services will be held from the South Duxbury Church. For those who wish, memorial gifts would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
