Garson R. Fields Jr., 75, passed away on December 7, 2024, at his residence at Lakewood, Colorado.
The funeral service will be private.
Garson was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on August 2, 1949. He graduated from the preparatory school Hinckley School, Hinckley, Maine, and later from Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire.
Throughout his life, Garson had residences at Leeds, Massachusetts, and Warren, Vermont.
He is survived by his sister Robin H. Fields of Morehead City, North Carolina; son Garson R. Fields III and wife Veronica Fields of Tooele, Utah; and son, Converse S. Fields and wife, Crystal Fields and granddaughter Adeline J. C. Fields of Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
From 1986 to 2010, Garson was president and co-owner of Berkshire Electric Cable Co., Leeds, Massachusetts, a family-owned business founded by his father in 1949.
Garson is preceded in death by his parents Garson R. Fields Sr. and Bert Smith Fields.
In college Garson was a member of the Dartmouth College Ski Team, competing in alpine, Nordic jumping, and cross-country disciplines. His lifelong hobby was restoring Vietnam War era military vehicles. Garson was a licensed pilot. He restored and flew a Vietnam War era Cessna L-19/0-1 Bird Dog from the Northampton, Massachusetts, airport.
Garson was an active member of the Massachusetts Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.
He will be remembered for his love of Jack Russell terriers. Memorial donations may be given to Dakin Humane Society, 171 Union Street, Springfield, Massachusetts 01105.
