Sandra J. Lawliss
Sandra (Sandy) Jane Lawliss, 67, passed away peacefully at Barre Gardens in Barre, VTm on Monday afternoon, June 24, 2024. Born in Montpelier on August 9, 1956, she was the beloved daughter of the late Robert Lawliss and Dorothy (Neill) Lawliss.
Sandy graduated from Harwood Union High School in 1974 and dedicated her higher studies to Christianity having graduated from Berkshire Christian College in 1978 and she received her Master of Divinity from Gordon Conwell Seminary in 1992. Sandy’s personal interest in serving the Lord was sparked from joining a youth group in high school and transcended through her adult years with pursuits that complemented her studies such as working for Jews for Jesus, serving as temporary minister, and travelling to the Holy Land. Sandy stayed as active as possible in church activities and took great pleasure in singing, taking every opportunity that availed itself to do so.
As the eldest of five siblings, Sandy is survived by her sister Maureen Lawliss of Phoenix, AZ, Diane Kerr and her husband Gib of Palmyra, VA, her brother Jeffrey Lawliss and his wife Nadine of Palmyra, VAm and her brother Terry Lawliss of Syracuse, NY; nieces and nephews, Kirstin Kerr O’Connor and her husband Seamus, Allie Kerr Pyrak and her husband Matt, Justin Lawliss, and Chistopher Lawliss and his wife Sam; and three great nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating her life will be held at the Waitsfield Common Cemetery on August 17 at 10 a.m. For those who wish, memorial gifts would be appreciated to the Greater New England Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
