Dr. Michael Usher
Dr. Michael Usher passed away at the age of 86 on June 1, 2024. Born in Montreal, he attended McGill University as an undergraduate and then medical student. He went on to have a distinguished career in nuclear radiology. Dr. Usher was a devoted husband and father and, for the last 25 years of his life, a beloved grandfather. He was so close with his grandchildren that even their friends called him “Papa.”
Dr. Usher bought a cabin in The Valley, in Waitsfield, over 50 years ago. He spent many of his happiest times here. His favorite activities included biking, playing tennis, eating maple creemees, golfing, taking photographs, playing guitar, and napping in his hammock. Dr. Usher was also glad to enjoy many close friendships in The Valley. He was an affable guy known for speaking with great candor and honesty. He called things like he saw them, but he was always looking for what he found most important: good values and good intentions. He talked happily with everyone who crossed his path, and he was truly unimpressed by wealth and status.
Dr. Usher is survived by his wife, Dr. Marion Usher; children, Douglas Usher, and Joanna Silver; and grandchildren, Caroline, Joseph, Hillary, Abigail, and Tess.
