Benjamin Bourne Laskaris died on June 26, 2023, in Westport Point, MA, at the age of 27.
Ben was born on October 10, 1995, at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA. He grew up between Newton, MA, Boulder, CO, and finally Waitsfield, VT, where he moved with his family when he was entering the fourth grade. He loved to rock climb, bike, and ski, and he felt a deep connection to the natural world. He was an excellent hockey and tennis player, a talented pianist, and enjoyed sketching and drawing. He graduated from Boston University with a degree in Computer Engineering and started his career at Qualcomm in San Diego.
Ben was warm and genuine with an indelibly magnetic laugh.
Ben struggled with depression, mental illness, and addiction during his life. He tried very hard to find a path forward.
He will be terribly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Anyone who desires to honor his life, consider giving to any organization that is trying to help young adults get through challenges with depression, mental illness and/or addiction of any kind.
Ben is survived by his parents, Susan and Theodore Laskaris of Waitsfield, VT; his brother, Nikolas Laskaris of Brooklyn, NY; his sister, Emma Laskaris of Waitsfield, VT, and many cousins, uncles, aunts, grandparents, and beloved friends. We will all carry Ben in our hearts as we move forward in our lives.
A celebration of his life will be held in late September 23.
