John Allan Mobus 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Springfield, VT, on Friday, June 16, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born January 11, 1940, in Montpelier, VT, the son of Warren and Beverley (Graves) Mobus. He graduated from Waitsfield High School, Class of 1958.
On June 15, 1963, he married Gaenol A. Fuller, they quietly celebrated their 60th anniversary the day before his passing.
He was employed with Lovejoy Tool Co. in Springfield for 40 years, working as a machinist in shipping and in sales.
John played baseball while in school, He enjoyed watching baseball and football. He enjoyed hiking, hunting, fishing, and candlepin bowling. First and foremost was his family.
He was a longtime and active member of the First Congregational Church in Springfield, a member of the B.P.O.E. Springfield Elks Lodge # 1560, and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose # 679.
His is survived by his wife Gay of Springfield, son Jeffrey and his wife Lisa of Springfield, son Mitchell and his wife Lisa of Louisville, Kentucky; daughter Julianne Archer and her husband Wesley of Hampden, Maine; one brother David Mobus; seven grandchildren: Trayel, Emily, Carrie, James, Madison, John, and Jakob; four great-grandchildren: Kathleen, Josephine, Maverick, and Cecilia.
He was predeceased by his parents, one brother William, and one grandchild Cassidy.
Friends may call at the Davis Memorial Chapel on Friday evening, June 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. An Elks service will be conducted at 6 p.m.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at the First Congregational Church in Springfield, VT. Reverend Michael Mario Pastor will officiate. Burial will be at the Warren Cemetery on Sunday afternoon, July 2, at 2 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
