June Keller Sardi was born September 13, 1936, in Queens, New York. She was a longtime resident of Warren, Vermont.
She passed away peacefully on May 3, 2023, at age 86 in Burlington, Vermont, of heart failure.
June was the daughter of John Adam Keller and Elinor Berger, both deceased.
Although she was the older sister to John Ronald Keller, whom she called “Ron,” she would tease him by signing all his birthday cards “younger sister.” This was an example of her playful and lighthearted nature because “Ron” was actually four years younger.
June was a passionate equestrian. And it was through her love of horses that she met Vincent Sardi, the renowned restaurateur, at the mounted police stable in NYC. She wanted to ride and Vincent was a volunteer with the mounted police department in Central Park. What followed was a beautiful love story that lasted for 25 years from their marriage in 1982 until his death on January 4, 2007.
June was very artistic and while living in Manhattan she enjoyed a career as an art director for several well-known publishing houses. June also loved painting – mostly horses – and was very good at it. In fact, she was known to take her love of painting to the extreme. One rainy day while living in Vermont she told Vincent she was bored, and he told her to go and paint “meaning” on canvas. Well, June ended up painting all the kitchen cabinets!
June and Vincent made a beautiful home in Warren, Vermont. They both loved the state, and shared their home and stable with horses, dogs, cats, and in fact, all sorts of animals.
June Keller Sardi is survived by her brother, John Ronald Keller and his wife, Marie Langlois of West Jordan, Utah; a nephew and his daughter; and her best friend, Morella Dewey.
