James (Jim) Panos of East Meadow, NY, and Warren, VT, passed away on May 20, 2020. Devoted father, husband, brother, uncle and friend, he was the loving husband of 23 years to Debra (O’Connor) Panos. Jim is also the beloved father to Jessica Panos and Alexandra Panos. He is also survived by his father, Chris Panos; brother, Anthony Panos; and ex-wife, Tina Atlas Panos. Jim’s mother, Anastasia, passed away in 2006.
Jim was born in Roslyn, New York, on September 19, 1952. From the beginning Jim was an adventurer. He loved to travel, ski, surf and anything that got his blood rushing. As a lawyer, he would go the extra mile, or turn the next corner to find the best solutions for his clients. He was deeply devoted to his family and friends.
In the 1970s Jim developed a lifelong connection to the Mad River Valley and especially Sugarbush. He was a longtime ski instructor at Sugarbush Ski School. One of his life’s passions was skiing and, most importantly, sharing the adventure of skiing with as many people as possible. His family’s second home is at Sugarbush and in recent years he spent a great deal of his time at this home. He would frequently be seen with friends and family at Chez Henri or cycling along Route 100 or 12A. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
