Lisle Gilbert, age 74, of Waitsfield, Vermont, died peacefully in his sleep on the morning of September 17, 2016. Raised in Garrison, New York, Lisle was one of six boys born to Anne and O. Rundle Gilbert. He attended Proctor Academy in New Hampshire and later graduated from Nathaniel Hawthorne College. Lisle was an avid skier, race car driver and poker player.
Lisle was predeceased by his parents and his three older brothers, Richards, Kenneth and Rundle (Tip). He leaves behind a son, Lisle Jr.; and two daughters, Sarah Gilbert and Caroline Gilbert; as well as two brothers, Townsend and Robert.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Lisle at the United Church of Christ in Waitsfield on Sunday, September 25, at 1 p.m. On Saturday, October 8, at 11 a.m., there will be a graveside service at St. Philip’s Church in the Highlands in Garrison, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Michael J. Fox Foundation in Lisle’s memory.
