1949-2016
Kenneth (Kenny) C. Bayley of Waterbury passed away peacefully on August 1, 2016, following a long illness. Born in Ipswich, Massachusetts, on February 12, 1949, he was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Elizabeth (Betty) Bayley, and his sister, Nancy. After graduating from high school in 1967, he set out to travel around the country in his Volkswagen bus spending most of his time in Florida and Arizona to avoid the cold winters of New England.
Kenny was a great builder, a trait he always said was inspired by his grandmother McIntyre. He was introduced to Vermont and the Mad River Valley in 1978 while assisting his uncle to build his home in Moretown. Kenny fell in love with Vermont and joined the newly formed Circus Studios Construction as a supervisor, building countless homes and businesses in The Valley, such as the Big Picture (Edison’s) movie theater, Allen Lumber and Valley Rent-All. During this time, he married Shevaun and had two sons, Devon and Colin. Kenny fulfilled his dream of building his own home on Dunbar Hill in North Fayston, working tirelessly on nights and weekends. Following his career with Circus Studios, Kenny went into business for himself forming Prime Choice Builders and continued to build many homes in the Mad River Valley and Waterbury area.
After living in North Fayston and raising his family, Kenny moved to Waterbury where he found a new community to be a part of. After living in the rural setting of North Fayston, Kenny enjoyed living in a more populated area where there were more people around and things to do. He walked through town on a daily basis where he enjoyed socializing with different people and going to the park for the farmers’ market. Kenny liked nothing more than to make people laugh and brighten up their day.
Kenny was known for his love of building, being a kind man who enjoyed talking with all the people from his community, for being a great father and for being an all-around great guy. He will truly be missed by his many friends and extended family in both Ipswich and Vermont.
Kenny is survived by his sons, Devon McIntyre Bayley of Waitsfield and Colin McBroom Bayley of East Boston, Massachusetts; and Jennifer Gray, his “Guardian Angel” who watched over and cared for Kenny throughout his illness.
A celebration of Kenny’s life will take place September 10 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Fayston Town Hall, Fayston, or memories and condolences can be sent to Devon and Colin Bayley at P.O. Box 475, Waitsfield, VT 05673.
