Mark Allen Gilman, 57, passed away unexpectedly at his South Burlington home on Tuesday, May 31, 2016. Born in Montpelier on May 22, 1959, he was the son of Lorraine E. (Gage) Gilman and the late Roger M. Gilman.
Mark grew up in Waterbury and was a 1977 graduate of Harwood Union High School in Duxbury. He continued his education at Champlain College where he received his degree in business administration. Following graduation, Mark lived in Florida and Montana for several years and upon returning to Vermont, he worked in information technology support at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. For the past 13 years, Mark has been employed in IT support by Vermont Student Assistance Corporation in Winooski; the family is grateful for the support Mark received from his VSAC colleagues.
In his leisure time, Mark enjoyed cooking, collecting sports cards, fishing and was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins.
Mark is survived by his son, Anthony Jordan Sabanski Gilman of Lanesboro, Massachusetts; his mother, Lorraine Gilman of Berlin; his brother, Kevin Gilman and his wife Donna of Waterbury; and his nephew, Justin Gilman and his wife Helen Bower of Arlington, Massachusetts; as well as an uncle, aunt and several cousins.
Graveside memorial services will be held from the Maple Street Cemetery in Waterbury Center on Friday, June 10, 2016, at 1 p.m. For those who wish, memorial gifts in lieu of flowers would be appreciated to the Waterbury Food Shelf and Good Neighbor Fund, 57 South Main Street #2, Waterbury, VT 05676.
