Patrick L. Cassidy passed away with his family by his side on January 30, 2016. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, to George and Mary-Light Cassidy. He served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956 and was involved in banking and life insurance while studying nights at New York University. He graduated with a BS degree in corporate finance in 1965.
In 1971, he moved with his family to Warren, Vermont, where he worked in the hotel industry, first at the Sugarbush Inn, a favorite for skiers. In 1978, in search for a warmer climate, he chose sunny Arizona and worked as a night auditor at Camelback Inn in Scottsdale, Arizona.
For health reasons, he retired in 1986 and moved to Depoe Bay, Oregon, for three years and spent the next three years in Stayton before deciding his permanent home would be Salem, Oregon.
On December 20, Patrick and his wife, Jeanne, celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his twin brother, Martin; children, Patrick, James and Elizabeth; and three grandchildren – Sarah and husband Josh live in California, and Lora and Kristina live with James and wife Bistra in Prague, the Czech Republic.
Services were held at City View Funeral Home, 390 Hoyt Street South, Salem, Oregon, on February 6 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Benedictine Foundation of Oregon.
