John C. Snow II, "Junior,” 60, passed away at his home in Warren on Sunday, January 24, 2016, following several years of declining health. Born in Burlington on April 9, 1955, he was the son of the late John C. Snow Sr. and Marion (Bissell) Snow May.
John attended schools in Warren and Harwood Union High School in Duxbury. He also was a member of the Warren Volunteer Fire Department for many years. As a young man, he started his working career apprenticing in plumbing and electrical with his father and became proficient in carpentry as well. He also did a little truck driving for a while. But for most of his working life, he much preferred working for himself using all of his many skills and incredible ingenuity. He dabbled in many different aspects of building/remodeling, mechanics, lawn maintenance, plowing, etc. – a real “jack-of-all-trades.” He was meticulous and creative and whatever you needed fixed or modified, he could do it. He thrived on any challenge.
John enjoyed the outdoors – whether camping, hunting, riding his Harley or, more often, just enjoying a good bonfire and the company of lots of friends and family. He was known best by all for his sense of humor, which was always on target and ever ready to lighten the mood and put every situation in the best light. He had a big heart and was always available to help anyone in need. He was a free spirit in every sense of the word and he lived and enjoyed life on his own terms.
John is survived by his loving daughter – the very center and foundation of his life – Sarah Snow, who resides in Warren; and his former wife (and mother to Sarah), Cynthia Gray ("Gracie"). John is also survived by his siblings, Gladys (Mikki), Lila, Charles, Muriel, Leon, George and Gwyn; his nieces and nephews, Doug, Kelli, Shaun, Brandi, John, Cody, Chelsea, Noel and Cassandra; his “granddog,” Hope, at home in Warren; as well as a plethora of extended family.
Family and friends are invited to the Warren Town Hall on February 27, 2016, at 1 p.m. to celebrate the life of John “Junior” Snow; please bring whatever stories, memories and pictures you have to share. Also, there will be a spring celebration of life and birthday bonfire bash April 9, 2016, at the Snow residence. For those who wish and/or in lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to Sarah Snow, P.O. Box 12, Warren, VT 05674, to help with final expenses. Assisting the family is Perkins-Parker Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Waterbury. To send online condolences please visit www.perkinsparker.com.
