Alice “Pete” Parrish, 86, of Granville died Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at her home.
She was born October 31, 1929, in Brandon, the daughter of William and Agnes Kyle. Pete attended school in Brandon and Waitsfield and was married to William Parrish on September 10, 1949. She has lived in Granville since 1949. She co-owned, with her husband, Vermont Wood Specialties for 20 years. In 1963, she became Granville postmaster serving until retiring in 1992. She was a charter member of the Tri-Town Snow Travelers and a member of Quin-Town Senior Center. Pete enjoyed snowmobiling, antiquing, going to flea markets, bird watching, camping, traveling, journaling and going to her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Survivors include her husband, William Parrish of Granville; daughter, Joyce Gendron and husband Ray of Rochester; son, James Parrish and wife Veronica of Granville; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held this summer and announced at a later date. Contributions in her memory may be made to Quin-Town Senior Center, P.O.
