Beverly Ruth Creelman, 88, died peacefully on November 24, 2015, at Mayo Health Care Center, Northfield, where she had resided in the skilled nursing section of the center since August 2013. She was the widow of Wilbur S. Creelman, her husband of 64 years. Beverly was born in Bedford, Pennsylvania, in 1927 where she spent her childhood with her parents, Arthur and Ruth (Stevenson) Russell, and her three brothers, Allen, John and James, and two sisters, Mary and Annabelle. She graduated with a degree in journalism from Pennsylvania State University where she met her future husband, Wilbur, a fraternity brother of her brother James Russell. They were married in 1949 and resided for many years in Wethersfield, Connecticut, finally settling in Emmaus, Pennsylvania. They enjoyed an active social life of dinner and bridge parties, golfing and traveling. Beverly was a many-year volunteer at local Meals On Wheels programs. Beverly is survived by daughters, Pamela Creelman Roehm of Nantucket, Massachusetts, and Elizabeth “Kim” Hopper (Creelman) of Fayston; brother and sister-in-law, James and Betty Russell of Bedford, Pennsylvania; sister and brother-in-law, Annabelle and Eugene Thomas of San Diego, California; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Phillip and Vivian Creelman of Southern Pines, North Carolina, and Cave Cove, Arizona; as well as 18 nieces and nephews and their families. She is predeceased by parents, Arthur and Ruth Russell; brothers, Allen and John Russell; sister, Mary Blackburn; as well as sons-in-law, James Hopper and Douglas Roehm. Beverly’s and Wilbur’s remains will be interred at a family plot in Bedford, Pennsylvania, in the spring of 2016.
