Van Mongeur, 51, died Saturday August 8, 2015, in his home.
Van was born March 7, 1964, in Randolph, Vermont, to Cheryl Miller and Richard (Dick) Mongeur and grew up in Granville. He attended Rochester schools and served, briefly, in the U.S. Army. He spent time in Germany and the Southwest before settling in the Rochester area in the summer of 1987. On November 4, 1989, he married Renee (Bissonnette) Mongeur in Rochester. Together they have two children who Van lived for.
Van worked proudly as a carpenter, roofer and Realtor (he acquired his Realtor’s license while living in Arizona with this family between 1996 and 1998). He enjoyed hunting, fishing, football, NASCAR, music and hanging out with his friends. Above all else, he loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Van is survived by Renee Mongeur, his wife of 25 years; his daughter, Vanessa Greenslit, her husband, Tommy, and their daughter, Hayley; his son, KC Mongeur, his fiancée, Carianne Kathan, and their son, Sawyer; his parents, Cheryl Miller and Richard Mongeur; his brother, Kenny Mongeur; his sister, Tamara Miller; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews. Van was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Van was predeceased by his grandparents, Richard and Thelma (Boutwell) Miller.
A celebration of life for Van will be held and announced at a later date. All condolences and contributions can be sent to his two children, Vanessa and KC, at 619 Corporation Road, Rochester, VT 05767.
