Daniel Hartley, 91, died on July 29, 2015, in Scotch Plains, New Jersey.
The memorial service was held on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Central Presbyterian Church (CPC), 70 Maple Street, Summit, New Jersey.
Born in Hillside, New Jersey, Mr. Hartley grew up in Union, New Jersey, and lived most of his life in Summit prior to moving to moving to Winchester Gardens in Maplewood, New Jersey, 11 years ago.
He graduated with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell University in 1947 and was elected to the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Society.
Mr. Hartley spent his whole career at Esso Research and Engineering, predominantly in Florham Park, New Jersey, with various assignments in Bombay, India; London, England; and San Marino, California.
The Hartley family has been traveling to their Vermont home for 27 years. All seasons have been a joy. May it continue.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and Korea who served as an engineer in destroyers and achieved the rank of full lieutenant.
Mr. Hartley is survived by his wife, Phyllis, and his children, Gordon, Vicki and Tracy. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Connor, Nolan, Ryan and Heather, and his great-grandchild, Charlie.
