Gladys M. Lattrell, 90, of Dowsville Road, South Duxbury, passed away at Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday evening, December 10, 2014. Born in Williston on September 5, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Carrie (Palady) Merchant. On June 11, 1942, she married Theodore Lattrell Sr. in Essex Junction, VT. Theodore predeceased Gladys in 1985.

Gladys attended schools in Williston and following her marriage was happy and busy as a homemaker and raising her family. She later was employed from 1988 to 2002 at Custom Decorating in South Burlington as the custom drapery manager. She then followed her love of cooking, working to prepare meals for children at Hunger Mountain Daycare in Waterbury from which she retired. Her memberships included St. Patrick Catholic Church in Moretown and the A River Runs Through It Garden Club.

Gladys is fondly remembered for her love of gardening, her creative abilities in craft painting, her consummate cooking expertise and her joy in reading a good book.

Gladys is survived by her children, Caroline Wuyts and her husband Robert of Havre de Grace, MD, Sandra Tomlinson of Milton, Susan Dove and her husband Greg of Flower Mound, TX, and Theodore "Ted" Lattrell Jr. and his wife Joanne of South Duxbury; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Emma Hufty of Jacksonville, FL; a brother, Donald Merchant of Williston; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. Gladys was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waterbury on a date and time to be announced this spring. Interment will take place in Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington. For those who wish, memorial gifts would be appreciated to Waterbury Meals on Wheels.
