"They are trying to install as much pipe as they can by December 1 which is the deadline for working along Route 100. Then they will move to the Dugway Road and be there for a week or two before they shut down for the season," said Waitsfield's municipal project manager Henry Erickson.
The second contract, held by the Munson Company, involves work along Tremblay Road. That company is cleaning up and should be finished this week and will then shut down for the winter. Workers are cleaning up along the edge of the road where they installed patch pavement and working up to the section where they went overland through the woods to get to the water storage tank site. They are cleaning up limbs and trees and installing additional erosion control measures.
The third contract is to install the water storage tank on Bushnell Road and that project will not happen until next spring.
Kingsbury Construction has the fourth contract which also involves installing water lines. That company is working on Long Road, up to the point where it crosses Reed Road. Part of that contract will also require boring underneath the Long Road, two-thirds of the way to Bushnell Road, under the crest of the hill.
"That will take place this year if the boring contractor can get here in the next couple of weeks. Otherwise it will wait until spring," Erickson said.
