After Summit Ventures NE purchased Sugarbush in September 2001, Ackland served as president of the company managing all operations until 2004 when he took over the newly created real estate division. The real estate division was responsible for the development of Clay Brook at Sugarbush, the new Gate House and the planning for the next phase of the Lincoln Peak Village. This ran the gamut from permitting, design, financing, construction, and sales and marketing.
"Bob has been a tremendous asset to Sugarbush, and I have enjoyed working with him these past several years," said resort president Win Smith. "In particular, Clay Brook and our new Lincoln Peak Village demonstrate Bob's contribution to our growing success. I wish Bob and Carol all the best for the future and am pleased that they will still be neighbors here in The Valley," continued Smith.

Prior to the ski business, Ackland had spent most of his working time in the yacht service, repair and building business on Cape Cod. Bob and his wife will split their time between Cape Cod and the Mad River Valley enjoying their family and the great outdoors.
