To The Editor:
I write to request that any pictures of killed animals during hunting season be placed on the sports page and not on the front page. I accept that hunting has a social/cultural importance for some people and it is their legal right to participate in this activity. However, it is also important to respect the views of others who find it disrespectful to have to see a majestic creature displayed in a state of death on the front page in order to read what may be contained within the newspaper or on a cover page.
Vermont is a place where there is tolerance for a variety of views, personalities and lifestyles. Let us incorporate this tolerance into our local paper through mutual respect for one another and all life. If pictures of animals who have become trophies must be displayed, please place them in a predictable place such as the sports page so that they may be viewed by those who desire to see them while those of us who are offended by the death have a choice not to have to look at them.
