To The Editor:
Originally, my first choice for a town office site was the Wait House site. However, with the $750,000 grant in hand for the Farm Stand site, I have changed my view and will vote yes for the Farm Stand site. This grant is a big plus. If the voters turn down the Farm Stand site, the grant has to be returned and the town would have to reapply for another site with the risk of not receiving another grant.
The voters could turn down the Farm Stand with the idea that there are other better choices for a town office site. Some feel that the old Methodist Church would be a better choice. But keep in mind that this site could be a money pit for years to come. Also, the current plan for the old church does not include renovating the whole building. This means that in the future voters could be asked to renovate the remaining area of the building at the cost of thousands of dollars.
Vote yes for the Farm Stand site and be assured of receiving the $750,000 grant.
